About Mr. Rhoads
Matt Rhoads is an Educational Specialist in San Marcos Unified School District in San Diego California. In this position, he teaches secondary courses in English and the Social Sciences as well as case manages students enrolled in their Special Education program. Matt is a passionate educator who holds many hats and roles in his professional life. His expertise includes Education Data Mining Techniques and Applications, Teacher and Educational Leader Data-Driven Decision Making, Edtech Tools and Pedagogy, School Improvement and Systems Thinking, and Special Education. His doctoral research interests pertain to educational leadership efficacy in terms of data use practices and data confidence in K-12 settings and how they may affect school performance. Ultimately through his research, his mission is to help effect change in improving K-12 schools for the students they serve. Currently, Matt is a doctoral student in Educational Leadership at Concordia University, Irvine where he will be graduating in 2019. He also has a Masters in Teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University. His bachelors is a degree in Political Science, which is also from Point Loma Nazarene University. During his undergrad, Matt was able to spend a semester in vienna, austria as well as intern for a san diego congresswomen and a family law office. In addition, he has also taken graduate level courses at San Diego State University for Educational Leadership and law courses at California Western School of Law. In his free time, Matt enjoys playing basketball, working out, going out to new restaurants, and traveling while spending time with his fiance' and puppy.
